Clasen’s Bacon Cheddar Burgers

Clasen's Bacon Cheddar Burger on Bacon Cheddar Buns

My wife and I eat a lot of burgers. When we created the Clasen's Bacon Cheddar Bun, there was no going back. It ruined ordinary burger buns for us.

This isn't a fussy burger. It's a good patty, a killer burger sauce, sharp cheddar, and enough bacon to make you smile. Add the bacon and cheddar already baked into the bun, and you've got an unapologetically over-the-top burger that's worth every bite.

- Tony Clasen

Ingredients

Burgers

  • 1 package Clasen's Bacon Cheddar Buns (4 buns)
  • 2 pounds high-quality ground beef, divided into four 1/2-pound patties
  • 4 slices high-quality sharp cheddar cheese
  • 8 slices bacon, cooked
  • Soft butter, for toasting the buns

Clasen Sauce

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • 1 tablespoon pickle relish
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • Pinch of cayenne pepper

Instructions

Make the Burger Sauce

Combine all of the burger sauce ingredients in a small bowl and stir until smooth.

Grill the Burgers

  1. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat, 500-550°F. A hot grill allows the burgers to cook quickly while developing a flavorful char.
  2. Split the Clasen's Bacon Cheddar Buns and spread soft butter on the inside of each bun.
  3. Divide the ground beef into four equal portions and gently shape into 1/2-pound patties that are just slightly larger than the diameter of the buns. Season them!
  4. Place the burgers on the hot grill and cook for 5 minutes per side. For classic crosshatch grill marks, rotate each burger about 45 degrees halfway through cooking on each side.
  5. When you flip the burgers, top each one with a slice of sharp cheddar cheese.
  6. Once the burgers are finished, transfer them to a plate to rest for a few minutes. Turn off your grill. The residual heat will toast the buns.
  7. Place the buttered buns on the grill. The grill is still very hot, so they'll toast quickly. Toast the cut side first, then briefly toast the outside, crust side, of the bun as well. Toasting both sides gives the bun a crisp exterior while keeping it soft inside, and really maximizes the flavor of the Clasen's Bacon Cheddar Bun.

Assemble

  1. Spread a generous amount of Clasen's Burger Sauce on both the top and bottom buns.
  2. Build the burgers, place two slices of bacon on each burger.
